Bison Producers of Alberta
The Bison Producers of Alberta was created in the year 2000 by the Order in Council of Alberta. The BPA operates under the Regulation Plan as set forth by the Province of Alberta Marketing Council.
Mission Statement:
Bison Producers of Alberta helps create opportunities for the development of local, national, and international consumer demand for Bison meat products; and attract new producers and investors to the Bison industry.
Functions and Services:
Bison Producers of Alberta (BPA) represents the Bison industry for the province. The BPA works together with the Canadian Bison Association on bison research, producer profitability, On Farm Food Safety, processing concerns and trade issues. Representation from across all areas of Alberta ensures effective representation of the Bison industry for lobbying and communication in both government and private sectors. The BPA promotes the marketing of Bison and Bison products, displays a booth for promotional events and trade shows to help increase consumer awareness of the Bison meat products, and provides on-going support to the Bison industry as a whole.
