Evergreen Agriculture Park in Grande Prairie was the site of the BPA's Peace Country Regional Meeting held on Saturday, October 25, 2014.
Forty-nine attendees heard the BPA update from chair Thomas Ackermann, which included a brief review of the Wildrose Bison Convention / Bison Show & Sale held in Ponoka in March, and the Elk Island National Park Bison Festival held in August that the BPA sponsored and participated in. In the upcoming year the BPA will be working with an outside consulting firm, Crescendo Fundraising Inc., on a Sustainable Revenue Development plan to ensure the BPA operations and projects continue to service our industry. Thomas also announced that the BPA would be holding an on-line auction during the 2015 Wildrose Bison Convention, instead of the live Show & Sale of consigned bison. The objective of going to an on-line auction is to reduce stress for the consigned bison, increase the number of consigned animals and bidders, and hopefully increase the sales prices.
